Saying ‘Thanks’ to Hog River Brewing

Not many know how we got our start. Lots of contributing factors for sure—quintessential in my mind were the helping hands of my grad school friends Paul and Raia—undoubtedly, many of our earliest supporters recall the pilot of our original ‘Charter Box’ at the end of 2020. Back then, we did not deliver. In fact, each of you ‘piloters’ came to designated pickup events we hosted at Hog River Brewing. Co-owners Joy and Ben Braddock played a significant role in how I got Curated CT off the ground, and their taproom was where I operated for many months. So, you can imagine my surprise when I walked by their front door last Wednesday to discover they had to make the difficult decision to close their taproom by the end of this month. While I am sad to be losing what has become my “Hartford Living Room,” what makes this even more personal has been getting to know Joy and Ben over the years and sharing a tiny piece in their small business journey. I want to help celebrate all they have accomplished—and wish them the best in the next chapter of their brewery. Plus, I have four gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, and I thought you might be interested in partaking in one last hurrah.

This isn’t exactly the local moment I had planned to share. Still, we can all agree that what makes local meaningful is the community it builds, the memories it creates, and the connections we foster even as things around us change. Whether or not you enjoyed their beer, I see all the memories over these last seven years. I met many of you there over the past two years, and I hope to bump into you there one last time.

Hog River Brewing Gift Cards

A liquid-ation of sorts

While Hog River has publicly announced they will continue to make their beers available in restaurants, bars, and stores, only their taproom is impacted by this change. To honor their accomplishments and support, I am throwing my kind of liquid-ation sale by offering up my four remaining $15 gift cards for $10. All beers on tap are now just $5 a piece while it lasts, so each card should cover three beers—plus tip and any sales tax.

There are only four here in my hands, so they’ll be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and you can secure yours right now by clicking here.

Their new reduced taproom hours and arrangements with me to get your gift card are listed on the HRB Gift Card product page—please know the last day you can redeem the card is during their final taproom hours on Sunday, April 29.
